Korogashi sake set handcrafted and signed by artisan Bifu Kimura. The set includes one tokkuri sake bottle, two sake cups and a handcrafted premium Paulownia woodbox. The porous nature of Bizenware enhances the flavor of sake, as well as beer and whiskey. The high iron content of Bizen clay makes it excellent for keeping the contents of its vessels hot or cold. The sake bottle holds 450 ml.
The making of...
With korogashi, or "knocked over" pieces, pottery pieces are placed on their side on the kiln floor during firing, where the heat and temperature are the highest and most mercurial. This kiln placement is volatile; the few pieces emerge boast marvelous "kiln mutations" such as horizontal glassy traces of ash and dusty shadows of the firing supports.
