Scheherazade is a wheel-thrown, stoneware ceramic jug with handle by Abigail Schama, seen in our film, The Wrangle. She is glazed lightly in white over a gray clay body. She sits on a solid base, with a wide belly full of tales for one thousand nights or more. She is suitable as a decorative piece, to display flowers, or to hold an extra-large serving of negroni.

The making of...

Each piece is the result of an intimate wrangle with the artist on the wheel. Abigail Schama works with a palette of transparent glazes and 24-carat gold lustre layered over a darker clay body. She marks the exterior and interior surfaces, creating a rugged, human tactility and imbuing each vessel with its own inner life. Each pieces' form and contours play on the edges of functionality; no two pieces are alike.
