Hebe is a wheel-thrown, stoneware ceramic bowl by Abigail Schama. She is painted with a palette of dolomite and transparent glazes. The lightness in her ivory sheen speaks to her namesake, the Greek goddess of youth, and sometimes mercy. She is suitable as a decorative piece or to hold fruit. All glazes are food safe.
The making of...
Each piece is the result of an intimate wrangle with the artist on the wheel. Abigail Schama works with a palette of transparent glazes and 24-carat gold lustre layered over a darker clay body. She marks the exterior and interior surfaces, creating a rugged, human tactility and imbuing each vessel with its own inner life. Each pieces' form and contours play on the edges of functionality; no two pieces are alike.
